A Poem on Love- Our Search For the One
Our whole lives we are seeking a one true love.
A love so whole, it soothes our inner child,
It endures life’s trials and tribulations by our side,
And celebrates life’s blessings with us each step of the way.
We spend years looking for this love, some a lifetime.
We look for it in others, in material possessions, and in varied experiences and activities.
Many lose themselves in the search, leaving a trail of broken hearts and missed connections in their wake.
This desire to find The ONE is as human as breathing.
Despite this desperate longing, for many, they never find it.
Recently, I find myself pondering this elusive love which has evaded so many
What if, just maybe, it was closer then where they sought?
What If all this time we were the ones we were meant to find all along?
For If one truly loves oneself, one can reflect, self-sooth, and bear witness with kindness, clarity, and understanding.
One can embody and observe one’s own emotions with grounded curiosity, unbound from the restraints of instantaneous reaction and attuned to the lessons whispered in their being.
For If one truly loves oneself, they can finally love from a place of sincerity, security, respect, and abundance.
When we can love from this place, we truly see those around us instead of mere projections of our unmet wants and needs.
We can take accountability for our role as Driver and recognize when we are Observer in our life’s grand design.
We can love without clutching and let go without drowning.
We would know the love we give is never lost; only expanded.
Even when it ends, it only creates more love to bless this earth
Each tear-filled heartbreak aches with lessons meant to be tended, nurtured, and persevered through.
These lessons, if only we let ourselves listen, teach us how to care for and be true to our ONE true Love.
Each gut-wrenching goodbye, though melancholy, can be a gateway for new beginnings.
Maybe, just maybe, when we find that one, we can find love all around us in its many varied, ever shifting forms <3
